Kelowna Women's Shelter Thrift Store
Non-profit organization that provides women and children support, education, shelter and basic needs. They give 100% of their profits to the Kelowna Women’s Shelter, services and programs. They accept clothing, household items, and non-perishable food. Check their website for designated drop-off days.
Mamas for Mamas
Specialized poverty relief agency for caregivers. Accepted items fluctuate but they usually accept essential items such as diapers, wipes, formula, food. Check their website for what is needed and where to donate. Household items including toys, books and baby equipment can posted to the Mamas for Mamas Facebook Group.
Dress for Success
Non-profit organization that supports women to achieve economic independence throuhg support, tools and professional attire. Accepts gently used, nearly-new professional attire.
Kelowna & District S.H.A.R.E. Society
Non-profit organization that provides material support and quality self-help opportunities. Most profits fund their in-house charitable programs. Accepts: clothing, household goods and furniture. Will pick-up.
HOPE Outreach
Offer nighttime outreach 7 days a week for women in Kelowna and Vernon who are experiences different types of homelessness, living in addictions, exploited or at risk of being exploited. Accepts: personal hygine items, makeup, and clothing.
Rutland Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store

Salvation Army West Kelowna
International Christian church who offers community assistance and emergency services. They accept clothing and household goods.
Mission Thrift Store
Non-profit, volunteer driven organiziation with net proceeds of all sales sent to the Bible League of Canada to programs worldwide. Accepts clothing and houeshold goods. May pick-up.
MCC Thrift
Network of not-for-profit thrift shops supporting local and global relief, development and peace projects of Mennonite Central Committee. Accepts clothing, household goods.
Salvation Army Kelowna
International Christian church who offers community assistance and emergency services. They accept food donations, clothing and household goods.
Diabetes Canada
Support diabetes research by donating household textiles, electronics, sporting goods and houeshold items. Find a donation bin near you or schedule our pick-up from their website.
Food Donations
After you declutter your kitchen or pantry, you may find some good intentioned food purchases, that you realistically will not eat. You can consider dropping them off at your local grocery store. Most grocery stores have a food donation bin that supports your local Food Bank.

RW&CO. Give Back Box
RW&Co. Canada has partnered with Give Back Box to promote circular sustainability in the fashion industry, where Give Back Box will donate your gently used items to an organization in need. By giving your clothes another chance, you have the power to change someone else’s life. Each donation will get you $10 toward your next purchase!
LEGO® Replay
Lego will accept your used Lego, DUPLO, Technic bricks, minifigures and baseplates. You box it, print a label they provide, and ship it to them. They pass forward the Lego to kids in need.
Free The Girls
Organization that provides a path through micro-entrepreneurship out of poverty for women who have been exploited. Donate your gently used bras to Naughty Girl Essentials on Ellis Street.
Okanagan Regional Library
From time to time, the ORL gratefully accepts donations of materials in good condition at all library locations. The ORL is happy to receive materials about local history, best-selling books and clean copies of the classics, DVD feature films, documentaries, and Disney classics. Check their website to know when they are accepting donations next.
RDCO Recycles Books Pilot Program
Look for recycle bins found in the lobbies of different branches of the Okanagan Regional Library. You can recycle books that are more tattered or outdated into. Good books will be resold, while others will have the bindings cut off and be properly recycled.
Habitat for Humanity Okanagan & ReStore Okanagan
Habitat for Humanity ReStores are non-profit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home décor, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Will pick-up.
The BC SPCA
The British Columbia Socity for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is an animal welfare organization whose mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in BC. They accept pet food, supplies, blankets, household items, and even your car!
Lions Recycle For Sight
Eye glasses and hearing aids are sorted to determine those that are useable and are placed in an inventory for distribution to missions around the world. Lions help to minimize landfill waste by supporting precious metal reclamation and scrap processing for damaged glasses that are unusable. Look for a donation box in the lobby of the the Johnson Bentley Memorial Centre.
Pearle Vision
They will accept used perscription eyewear that can be recycled into new glasses.
Our Social Fabric
Located in Vancouver, this is a non-profit fabric store selling donated fabric and fibre art supplies online and in-person. They keep ‘waste’ fabric out of the landfill and have kept tons of textiles and sewing related material out of the landfill each year. The accept fabric and sewing supplies. Please email them to arrange your donation. They accept donations outside the Lower Mainland by mail.
Phone It Forward.ca
Donate your phone and change the life of someone who's blind. Phone it Forward is a CNIB program that takes your smartphone, refurbishes it, and gives it to a person with sight loss who needs it.
Fabcycle
Located in Vancouver, they collect fabric and sewing supplies and provide a space for the creative community to experiment with textile waste. They accept donations of fabric and sewing supplies.
Vancouver Firefighters Clothing Bank Program
Located in Vancouver, you can donate your clean and dry textiles to 1 of 10 firehalls. Textiles are upcycled by Trans-Continental Textile Recycling and repurposed into a wide array of products such as clothing, stuffing used for upholstery products, dog toys, and cleaning rags for home. In turn, this program provides funding to the community-based Vancouver Firefighter Charities.

They accept items purchased from their store including beverage containers, flexible foam plastic, beauty packaging, electronics, small appliances, batteries, light bulbs, ink and toner cartridges, smoke alarms, BRITA products, and medications.
Best Buy
They accept a variety of items from batteries and cellphones to microwaves and home theatre systems.
Walmart
Their ‘Recycling in Beauty’ program accepts cosmetics and skincare containers for recycling. Look for the blue and white bin near Customer Service.
Staples
It’s recycling day everyday at Staples. They accept a full range of items from tech, ink & toner, batteries, CO2 cylinders, Nespresso capsules and writing tools. They even have rewards for bringing in your items!

Shred Nations
Operates out of the UPS stores in West Kelowna, Kelowna and Penticton. They offer drop-off paper shredding for up to 90lb, mobile shredding where they will come to your location to shred, off-site shredding for projects over 90lb. They also offer hard drive destruction, electronics destruction (including cell phones, tablets and computers).
Okanagan Paper Shredding
They specialize in secure, on-site document destruction. They offer a one time purge service as well as a regular scheduled shredding service. They host an annual Community Shred Event by donation.

This is the Stewardship Agency in British Columbia. They work with organizations to help improve recycling and environmental stewardship. Their website provides guides on what can be recycled under BC's Stewardship Programs including batteries, beverage containers, electrical outdoor power equipment, electronics, major appliances, health products, packaging and printed paper, paint and household hazardous waste, lights, alarms, small appliances, thermostats, tires, oil and antifreeze.
